Throughout the history of Korean hip-hop, there has been a growing trend of foreign rappers dominating the frenetic scene. Legendary rappers Tiger JK, Jay Park, and San E were all Korean Americans who have had great success in the Korean market. Although these artists became established in South Korea, it's unheard of for an already established artist to seek to dominate a market outside of their own scene. Leave it to none other than Korean American rapper Flowsik to break all stereotypes.

Flowsik achieved a lot of success in the United States alongside his rap group AZIATIX. AZIATIX was awarded the “Best New Asian Artist Group” award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards back in 2011 and also had their latest album Awakening reach #1 charts in both the US and Japanese iTunes charts. Following this great accolade, the group was able to sign to renowned label Cash Money Records, which boasted the likes of prominent hip hop artists Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga, and Flo Rida.

After achieving countless accomplishments, the group unfortunately decided to go their separate ways. This is when a new chapter opened up for Korean American rapper Flowsik and he made the decision to compete in the competitive hip-hop survival show “Show Me the Money 5”. The survival show could be seen as a challenge for Flowsik, and although he's a lyrical genius and a flow specialist, the language barrier could've proved to be a bit challenging for the artist. Nonetheless, his precise delivery and impeccable flow allowed him to put an imprint on the program, making it into the top 8 final contestants.
