Social artist BTS garners success on V app

BTS was recently recognized for its strong engagement with fans through social media, clinching the top social artist award at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

The group, named “the most influential social media artist,” has several strategies on social media including its active and open communications with fans via the Naver V app.

Living up to its widespread fame, BTS has more than 5 million followers, the highest among artists featured on the app. Since its first broadcast in August 2015, the group has aired a total of 380 broadcasts.

BTS drew the most viewers for its broadcast on Feb. 12 when it aired a preview for its third repackaged album “You Never Walk Alone.” It became the most viral broadcast, drawing more than 5.6 million views and garnering more than 178 million “hearts” from fans. All seven members actively participated in introducing the album and showed a lighthearted side of the group by playing games.

Another preview show for the group’s second album “Wings,” aired on Oct. 9, 2016, ranked the second most viral video, with 5.1 million views and 150 million hearts.

Based on the number of hearts received, “BTS Countdown Live Burning BTS,” aired in May last year, came in third. During the broadcast, the members talked about their compilation album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever.”

Band member Jungkook’s individual video aired in November last year also wowed fans, receiving more than 70 million hearts. Jungkook, who has both local and overseas fans for his cute-looking appearance, had shared personal stories and ate night snacks.
