South Korea's Cabinet approved a nuclear deal with the United States that expands South Korea's civilian nuclear activities, Cheong Wa Dae said Tuesday. The endorsement was made at a Cabinet meeting presided over by President Park Geun-hye, said the presidential office in a statement.
The move came nearly two months after the allies reached an agreement on their peaceful nuclear energy cooperation. It would allow Seoul to expand its non-military nuclear activities, including uranium enrichment and research into reprocessing. The sides are expected to formally sign the deal during Park's visit to the U.S. set to begin Sunday.
