Baseball players Lim Chang-yong and Oh Seung-hwan have been slapped with a W10 million fine each for illegally gambling overseas, according to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office on Thursday (US$1=W1,216).
The fine is higher than the W7 million prosecutors sought and the highest that can be imposed on a gambling charge. Earlier, prosecutors decided to bring the case to court by summary indictment since the two only gambled small sums and do not seem to have a gambling habit. Lim and Oh gambled about W40 million each in Macau in November 2014.
