It was recently reported that a chief monk at a temple in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Provice, is under heavy investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a South Korean woman in her 20s. The victim claims that she had been raped several times over the course of the last four years. The chief monk allegedly coerced the woman into sexual intercourse, claiming that it would release the evil spirits as well as threatening her that if she did not partake in this activity, her family would be in the dangers of getting hurt or cancer.
The monk on the other hand denied these claims, claiming that the accusations were consensual sex.
