The annual college entrance exam was completed at 1,180 test venues across the country on Thursday. This year's exam was held a week later than scheduled due to a 5.4-magnitude earthquake in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province on Nov. 15.
A 1.7-magnitude aftershock was recorded in northern Pohang around noon, but the exam continued at all venues, as the tremor was barely perceptible.
A total of 593,527 people applied to take the test, but 10.08 percent did not appear, up from 8.9 percent last year. This was the first time the figure has exceeded 10 percent since the current test system was introduced in 1994.
