South Korean Drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’ Starring Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki to Debut in Feb

A new drama series, titled "Descendants of the Sun," will be aired in South Korea and China in February, featuring top Korean actors and actresses, a local broadcaster said Tuesday. Featuring South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo, the show will be based on a fictional country and revolve around the romantic relationship of a soldier and a doctor. The series ended its production last month, with an investment of 12 billion won (US$10 million). It will be aired by the country's top public broadcaster KBS.
The drama series is about UN peacekeeping troops who are dispatched to the war-torn country of Uruk. Captain Yoo Shi-jin, team leader of the Special Warfare Command unit, meets Kang Mo-yeon, a volunteer doctor with Doctors Without Borders. As they work alongside each other in disaster- and disease-stricken zones, Shi-jin and Mo-yeon clash then fall in love.
