Chun In-gee will not participate in the JTBC Founders Cup, as she is still recovering from the injury that forced her out of the HSBC Women's Champions tournament earlier this month. Chun's agency said Friday that the golfer had been receiving treatment since returning to Korea last Tuesday. She decided not to play in the upcoming tournament, which opens on Thursday, after a doctor advised her that she would need two weeks of treatment.
Chun injured her coccyx when she fell on an escalator at Singapore's Changi Airport on March 1. The pain has mostly subsided but her back remains swollen and bruised, according to the agency, which also relayed Chun's concerns over public speculation surrounding her accident.
Chun tripped on a bag belonging to fellow golfer Jang Ha-na that was being carried by Jang's father. "We don't want to see any misunderstanding over the accident that might cause distress [for Jang and her family]," the agency said. Chun plans to participate in the KIA Classic, which opens in California on March 24.
