A high school student has published a book on the plight of Korean women who were forced into sexual slavery for Japanese troops during World War II. "Tears of a Girl" was written by Park Jung-yeon (18), who still goes to school in Massachusetts. It is being published in both Korean and English. Jung-yeon said she got the idea after reading "The Diary of Anne Frank."
"I think 'The Diary of Anne Frank' made everybody aware of the Holocaust, so I wrote the book to tell the world of the former sex slaves," Jung-yeon said. She has volunteered every summer at the House of Sharing, a hospice set up to help the former sex slaves. "Seven of the victims have died this year alone and now there are only 48 left," she said. She plans to use the proceeds from her book to distribute the book in other countries.
