South Korean Movie ‘Veteran’ Invited to Toronto Film Festival

Action flick "Veteran" has been invited to this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place Sept. 10-20. The annual festival is among the world's four major film extravaganzas along with those in Berlin, Cannes and Venice.

But unlike the others, it doesn't have a competition section and diverse films from around the world are screened. Released in early August, the film is about a veteran detective who chases the arrogant heir of a wealthy and powerful family while investigating the mysterious death of a truck driver.

Veteran is a 2015 South Korean film written and directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. The movie is about Detective Seo Do-cheol is tough and merciless when it comes to crime. But while investigating a high-profile case, Seo finds out that arrogant young millionaire Jo Tae-oh — the third-generation heir to powerful conglomerate Sunjin Group — is pulling some strings behind the scenes. However, no matter how rigorously Seo's team pursues him, Jo always escapes with the help of his wealth and connections.
