After a long standoff with LA SWAT officers in Koreatown, a man is now in custody after the team responded to a call about shots being fired at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Berendo Street. The report came in at 12:30 a.m. with the suspect being taken in at 5 a.m.
Officers found a man standing outside the apartment complex and he was unwilling to surrender. Officers tried multiple times to negotiate with the man but he refused to give up and he would occasionally taunt the officers.
Eventually, at 5 a.m., the suspect was tasered and taken into custody. He was taken away by ambulance.
Officers said that the reported shots were fired into the ground during a domestic dispute between the suspect and his girlfriend. His girlfriend is reported as having no injuries.
Authorities recovered a weapon at the scene but it's unknown if the weapon had been in the suspect's pocket.
