During a recent interview with Chinese media outlet Sina, Tao, otherwise known as Huang Zi Tao, opened up about former EXO members Kris and Luhan, and even EXO, the group he recently left. Sina held their exclusive interview with the former EXO member in Los Angeles, California.
In the interview, Tao was asked about his initial "angry" reaction towards former EXO member Kris's (Wu Yi Fan) departure from the popular boy group. Tao had famously used words such as "betrayal" and "ambition" to describe his hurt feelings on his personal Instagram and Weibo account. Tao explained that the reason behind his actions were because he had felt hurt by Kris, who he had considered a close "brother" and friend, for leaving without saying anything. Tao also discussed how he was torn about whether to post the message or not, but after asking friends, who had advised him not to do it, and his manager, who said it'd be okay, Tao decided to upload the message. However, the singer expressed regret at his past actions and wishes he had supported Kris back then.
Tao also shared that he still keeps in touch with another former EXO member, Luhan. However, he hasn't had a chance to speak with Kris yet, and feels concerned that he won't forgive him. Also, the singer shed tears while discussing the misunderstandings people have of him and the reason why he left EXO. Tao revealed that he left EXO because despite being injured, he was pressured to continue fulfilling his schedule and to keep working and rest later.
Tao further discussed pictures and clips of him pushing EXO member Baekhyun at a cocnert. The now solo singer explained that in the full version of the video, it's clear to see that everyone was playing and horsing around, and that he loves the EXO members. Tao expressed disappointment at the malicious editing of the clips.
Currently, Tao is in conflict with SM Entertainment after having requested a contract termination last April, citing health and unfair treatment as the primary causes for his request. Tao is now promoting in China as a solo artist under the name 'Z.Tao'.
