On Wednesday, Samsung released its latest and smartphone and more notably, the Samsung smartwatch in Korea and 57 other countries. The Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear are being sold for all three mobile providers -- SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus.  Samsung plans to sell the new devices to all 140 countries by next month.

The Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled at Berlin's IFA tech show and has a 5.7-inch screen which comes with a stylus pen.  This futuristic, sleek smartwatch can make and receive phone calls, check messages and take photos. Currently, the device is only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3, but Samsung says it will soon also be compatible with other phones in its lineup.

The Galaxy Note 3 costs W1.067 million (US$1=W1,078), here and the Galaxy Gear W396,000.

Next month, Samsung plans to unveil a smartphone with a curved screen, as a step on the way to a bendy smartphone.

Lee Don-joo, head of sales at Samsung's mobile division, told reporters "Samsung would spearhead innovation" with the product.  Other details were not given at this time. Rival LG Electronics, meanwhile, announced it is developing a plastic OLED-screen phone ready for release in the fourth quarter.
