On Saturday, Mi Reum Song was walking to the grocery store near Olympic Boulevard and Vermont Avenue when a random stranger walked up to her and struck her. The brutal attack left the 85-year-old grandmother with a head injury, purple-black swollen bruises around her eyes. The photo displays the poor woman wrapped in bandages and an open wound between her bruised eyes. Song was badly hit and left unconscious, bleeding in the sidewalk curb. “The guy was walking towards her, and out of nowhere, he just hit her,” Song’s granddaughter, Yujin Ko stated about the attack. The attack happened out of nowhere as there was no communication between the grandmother and the attacker. No belongings were taken, so the motive for the attack remains unanswered.

Following the attack, LAPD officials reached out to the public for help in search of identifying the man. The next day, police arrested Richard Colomo and is charging him with battery. Colomo is being held on $105,000 bail. Justice will be served for Mi Reum Song.
