Typhoon Chaba made landfall on Jeju Island early Wednesday morning, bringing heavy thunderstorms to southern Korea, including earthquake-hit Gyeongju. Already over 20,000 homes suffered power cuts and fishing boats capsized on the island on Tuesday night.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that the typhoon will swerve east off the port of Ulsan on Wednesday afternoon. In Gyeongju, up to 250 mm of rainfall is expected along with strong winds of 30 m/s. The typhoon could cause further damage to the earthquake-hit area and precautions should be taken.
