UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon received the German Media Prize in Baden-Baden, Germany on Monday. The award has been given since 1992 to people who had a positive impact on society, politics and policy-making.
It is judged by the editors of major German newspapers and magazines, who said Ban strove passionately to promote solidarity and cooperation in the international community amid global crises and political strife.
