Koreans living in the United States who are undocumented are eligible to get their work permit through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This program applies to two thirds of the undocumented Koreans in the United States. But it is not gaining any momentum. According to The Migration Policy Institute, about 7,000 out of 22,000 undocumented Koreans applied for the DACA program which is about 31 percent.

According to The Migration Policy Institute, 49 percent of all undocumeted population have applied for the DACA. MPI also reports that the reason for the low application rate for work permit is due to eligible applicants waiting for a better immigration reform. Also about 260,000 potential applicants did not graduate high school.
