Which Korean Automobile are the Best Sellers?

According to a recent report by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, the Kia Morning subcompact, Hyundai Grandeur large sedan and mid-sized Avante are the three car models that are fighting for the title of bestselling car 2014. As of this report, 67,745 Morning compacts were sold this year, 66,027 Grandeurs and 65,075 Avante.
The stellar sales of the Grandeur will likely to change the rankings, which have been dominated for the last decade by the Avante and Sonata. The Sonata was the bestselling car from 1999 to 2010, while the Avante ranked at the top from 2011 to 2013.
But with the release of a hybrid model of the Grandeur late last year as well as a diesel version in May this year, sales have been steady for months. Meanwhile, the Kia Morning subcompact is in strong demand among budget-minded consumers. If it becomes the best-selling car of 2014, it would mark the second consecutive year.
But middle-class consumers and buyers in their 20 and 30s, who have been fans of the Avante and Sonata, are switching over to SUVs. Three SUVs (Santa Fe, Sportage and Tucson ix) ranked among the top 10 bestselling cars so far this year.
Cho Chul at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade said, "The popularity of the luxury Grandeur and a compact like the Morning clearly shows a polarization in spending" at the cheap and expensive ends of the market.
