The 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil is right around the corner, however team Korea is still plagued by injuries.  Kim Jin-su of Japan's Albirex Niigata was supposed to be a starting fullback before an injury to his right ankle ligament saw him replaced by Park Joo-ho of Bundesliga outfit FSV Mainz 05. Meanwhile, center back Hong Jeong-ho of Augsburg, another top-flight German team, will miss at least one week's training due to an injury he sustained on Wednesday's friendly against Tunisia in Seoul.

"Due to the injury he picked up on May 6 during a match in the Japanese league, Kim needs more time to fully recover, so he won't be in good enough condition to play in Brazil," Song Joon-seop, an orthopedic surgeon for the national team, said at a press conference on Thursday.

With Kim's sudden departure from the World Cup roster, Park, who was initially ruled out due to cellulitis, is now set to replace him.  "Park has now recovered and he will join the squad immediately so he can leave for Miami on Friday with the other players," said Song.
