An unnamed South Korean woman who had recently moved to Kenya from Dubai was amongst the casualties that occurred due to a terrorist attack on an upscale shopping mall located in Nairobi, Kenya. The woman, who is reportedly in her 40s, passed away at a nearby hospital from multiple gunshot wounds and grenade shrapnel.
Her husband who is a British national, was also wounded but is in stable condition. They had married five years previous, and according to Seoul's foreign ministry, moved to Nairobi from Dubai recently.
Five other Americans were reported to be among the list of injured persons. One of those was UC Berkeley graduate and San Diego resident Elaine Dang, who moved to Kenya just last year in order to pursue her career as a manager for an online restaurant guide named Eat Out Kenya.
Dang, age 26, posted a picture on her Twitter of herself in a hospital bed to show that she was okay.
