South Korea might be having another figure skater to take the crown after Kim Yuna! There's a new rising figure skater that you definitely want to keep an eye on, especially with how she's surpassed Queen Yuna's record of being the youngest national champion of South Korea! Kim Yuna earned the title at the age of 12 back in 2003, but You Young overcame her record by becoming South Korea's youngest national champion at the age of 11 in 2016! She earned the title by winning gold at the 2016 South Korean Figure Skating Championship.
You Young first stepped into the world of figure skating after catching Kim Yuna's victory during the 2010 Winter Olympics. From there, she grew into a figure skater that shouldn't be ignored. Stepping on the ice at the age of six to becoming a three-time national figure skating champion in South Korea at the age of 15, You Young is quickly making her way up to one of the top figure skaters in South Korea.
She's even set to compete at an Olympic-level, having qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics, although she was unable to compete on the account of being too young.
Do you think she's up to becoming South Korea's next figure skating queen?
