Choi Ji-man was released from the 40-man roster of the New York Yankees on Wednesday.

He was designated for assignment to make room for three newly acquired players, including Todd Frazier, who has been traded from the Chicago White Sox.

If no other club shows an interest in acquiring Choi within 10 days, he will head back to the minor leagues.

In six games with the Yankees since being called up from the minors, Choi had 4 hits in 15 at-bats, including two home runs in his first two appearances.
